Shilpa Madhavan Shinde is currently the Manager – Business Transformation at FedEx Express. In this role she is responsible for leading an implementing enterprise wide analytical projects which change the way FedEx Express plans, executes and monitors the network. Her team uses advanced analytical concepts such as statistical modeling, machine learning, reinforcement learning, optimization, discrete event and agent based simulation to enable this. She works very closely with operations and engineering teams to bring together analytical solutions and process re-engineering efforts. She has close to 18 years of experience in the fields of process reengineering, process improvement, design of experiments, data & decision science and analytical modeling.
She started her career with FedEx Express as a project engineer in the Air Operations group. Prior to joining FedEx she worked as a consultant for process improvement / Six Sigma projects in India. She has also worked in research / consulting roles in the US with bio technology labs and consumer product development teams. She earned her PhD and MS in Industrial Engineering from Arizona State University and holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics from University of Mumbai.
