John Hamilton, President
John Hamilton started Air Flying Partners, LLC in May 2020 to provide technical and management consulting. Hamilton retired as Senior Vice President of Engineering for Boeing Commercial Airplanes in December 2019. In this role he was responsible for engineering design, producibility, delegated compliance, safety, and customer support activities for all Boeing commercial airplane models. As the Commercial Airplanes Engineering leader, Hamilton was also responsible for identifying and implementing best practices as well as ensuring that the right engineering skill sets, processes and tools are in place for designing, integrating, building, testing, certifying, delivering and supporting Boeing airplane products.
Hamilton held a variety of past leadership roles in several organizations since joining Boeing in 1984 as a design engineer. He holds a bachelor’s degree in aeronautical/astronautical engineering from The Ohio State University and a master’s degree in business administration from Seattle University. He completed the Aviation Safety Management program at the University of Southern California, and flight crew training for the 757 and 767 airplanes. He graduated from Columbia University's Senior Executive Program in 2007.
Hamilton is currently Past-Chairman of the Board of Governors for the Flight Safety Foundation, based in Alexandria, VA. He has served on this Board since 2013 and was the Chairman of the board from 2017-2019. He is also a member of The Ohio State University College of Engineering Dean’s Advisory Panel. Hamilton is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Washington and an Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA).
