Deborah Brown


Deborah Brown

Deborah A. Brown, a professional manager with more than two decades of experience in the public and private sectors, has been a Senior Properties Representative for the Port Authority of NY & NJ’s Aviation Department at John F. Kennedy International Airport since 2018. She oversees a portfolio of assets that includes cargo operations, in-flight catering and most significantly, the bulk fuel storage facility managed by the airport’s Properties and Commercial Development division.
 
Deborah began her career at the Port Authority in 2017 as a Senior Business Manager responsible for all human resource issues for over 700 employees and contractors at JFK. After pivoting to her current position, Deborah carefully navigated and implemented the historic transfer of ownership two 80,000-barrel fuel tanks in 2020.

Deborah began her aviation career in 2007 as Flight Operations Coordinator at Farmingdale State College. She was subsequently hired by Republic Airport (FRG) as Administrator of Commercial and Business Operating Permits and soon promoted to Security Coordinator. During her tenure at FRG, Deborah provided critical logistical assistance to and coordination with local county, state and federal government agencies, including the New York State Police and the Federal Emergency Management Agency during Hurricane Irene in 2011 and Superstorm Sandy in 2012. 
 
Prior to launching her aviation career, Deborah was a small business owner. She continues to actively volunteer in her local community, serving as a board member of the Aerospace Education Cooperation, a nonprofit organization created to promote aviation education by introducing middle- and high school students to careers in the aviation industry. The organization also supports world-class science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics opportunities for students to consider after graduation. 
 
Deborah holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Economics from Empire State College, a Master of Science in Human Service Leadership from St. Joseph’s College, and post-graduate certifications from Notre Dame University, Cornell University and Northcentral University. She resides in Suffolk County.
